Caregiver Basics

Whether you are caring for a loved one, launching your own business, or joining an agency, this course provides the essential skills and "tricks of the trade" to excel as a professional caregiver. Our curriculum is specifically designed to align with the California Department of Social Services Home Care Aide Registry standards, ensuring you meet all state requirements for registration.

 

What You’ll Gain

In this program, you will move beyond theory by gaining hands-on experience in our well-equipped lab. You will master critical caregiving tasks including:

• Daily Living Support: Tips and techniques for bathing, dressing, and toileting.
• Complex Physical Care: Bed care, wound care, and safe wheelchair use.
• Medical Basics: Accurately measuring vital signs and managing general health and safety.
• Communication: Effective strategies for connecting with clients and families.

 

Specialization in Dementia Care

Discover the nuances of cognitive health by exploring the various forms of Dementia. You will learn how to identify specific behaviors and adapt your caregiving approach as the condition progresses, ensuring comfort and dignity for your clients.

 

Certification

Upon successful completion, you will receive a Certificate of Completion to include with your job application.

Class meets once a week for 12 weeks, excluding holidays.
