We are proud to announce we have partnered with UCLA Center for Prehospital Care to offer Phlebotomy. 
 
This program meets all California state requirements for students to become a California Licensed Phlebotomist (CPT1). 
The program will introduce students to the field of phlebotomy and provide them with basic and advanced skills in both theory and clinical practice to prepare the students for the National Certification exam.  This program is for anyone who does not have prior phlebotomy experience and those who already have on-the-job phlebotomy experience and would like to be licensed as a CPT1. 
 
Classes are held at the Golden Oak Training Center, 21445 Centre Pointe Pkwy, Santa Clarita.
This class is 6 weeks of evening lecture/didactic -Monday/Wednesday 6-10pm, with 4 weeks of Friday morning labs from 9 am - 1 pm.  
You will have 40 hours of clinical shifts (about 4-6 weeks to complete, can be longer) 
40 hours of Clinical Rotation time can be completed at our very own Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital and ER
 
When registering for the class please enter your legal name as it appears on your legal ID Card. 
 
There are additional fees associated with the course: 
The National Certification Exam fee of $125 is paid directly to the National Healthcare Association approximately 2 weeks before the last day of class, 
The California State CPT1 license fee of $100 is paid directly to the State of California upon completion of the externship.
Some clinical rotation sites may require a lab coat or scrub jacket. 
 
Students will be required to provide proof of CPR for Healthcare Providers. 
Students are required to wear uniform scrubs including the first day of class. Scrubs cannot be solid black, solid white, florescent neon or have prints. Must come to first class in scrubs. Shoes can't be solid white, solid black or be mesh.  
 
Course Fee: $2,700
 
Pre-Requisite: High School Diploma or Equivalent.  High English Proficiency.
Completion of class does not guarantee employment.
Social Security Number required for state licensing/background check.
You must meet the medical requirements below:
Medical Requirements 
  • Physical: A current basic physical examination (conducted within the 6 months prior to the beginning of the course), signed by a physician, that specifies that you have no physical limitations for participating in the classroom and clinical phases of the course.
  • Healthcare Provider Evaluation & Clearance for Mask Fit (Respirator) Testing: Your physician must also certify that you are able to participate in mask fit (respirator) testing. We encourage you to obtain this clearance at the same time you do your physical. The actual mask fit testing will be performed during the course. The mask and testing materials are included in your course fee. The mask fit testing done in class requires men to shave their facial hair if it interferes with the seal of the mask. 
  • Copy of health insurance card: You must provide proof of health insurance and maintain coverage throughout the program.  Private, state, and federal health insurance are all acceptable. You are responsible for all payment of medical care related to exposure/injuries/illnesses. 
  • Proof of the following immunizations:
    • Hepatitis B vaccine/immunity: Proof of Hepatitis-B vaccine (3 shot series), positive Hep-B titer, OR signed declination form.
    • Tetanus-Diphtheria-Pertussis (Tdap): Proof of Tdap vaccine or signed declination form.
    • Measles-Mumps-Rubella (MMR): Proof of MMR vaccine or a positive MMR titer.
    • Tuberculosis: A negative TB skin test within three months of the beginning of the course or Quantiferon lab test results. If you had a positive reaction to a previous skin test, please submit documentation of a negative chest x-ray.
    • Varicella: A varicella vaccination (or proof of immunization or a positive varicella titer).
    • Flu Vaccine
    • Covid-19 vaccine and booster
Limited allowance for medical and religious exemption is reviewed with supporting documentation.
