Earning a High School Equivalency Certificate in California is possible by passing either the GED or HiSET exams.

 

At Golden Oak Adult School, we offer comprehensive test preparation for both exams in a flexible hybrid format. This includes in-person classroom instruction and access to online preparation tools. Our classes are taught in a modular format, allowing you to complete the instruction for each subject before taking the corresponding exam.

 

We offer test preparation in both English and Spanish.

HiSET (HiSET.org)

  • HiSET registration, scheduling, and payment are completed online by the student at www.HiSET.org.
  • HiSET Exams are available in both paper and computer-based formats.
  • HiSET consists of five tests:
      • Language Arts - Reading
      • Language Arts - Writing
      • Mathematics
      • Science
      • Social Studies
  • Test Fee: $125 (Paid online; includes all 5 sub-tests and 2 free retakes, and state admin fee.)
  • Test Fee per Test: $17 (Paid online; + one-time $20 State admin fee.)
    The test fee is non-refundable, and testing must be completed within 12 months of registration.

GED® (GED.com)

  • GED® registration, scheduling, and payment are completed online by the student at www.GED.com.
  • GED® consists of four tests:
    • Reasoning through Language Arts
    • Mathematics Reasoning
    • Science
    • Social Studies
  • Test Fee: $145 (all 4 tests, paid online)
  • Test Fee per Test: $41 (Paid online, may schedule up to two tests if time allows)
