Class Descriptions
Day Classes:
Foundations/Low Beginning
This course is for students who are being introduced to the English language. Students will build a basic vocabulary related to life skills and common situations. They will learn pronunciation, spelling, and basic grammar through listening, speaking, reading, and writing activities.
High Beginning/Intermediate
This course is for students to increase their ability to communicate in common situations and build a larger vocabulary through listening, speaking, reading, and writing activities. Students will develop their oral and written communication skills in the English language, and learn beginning problem-solving and critical thinking. Reading and writing development will be reinforced.
Evening Classes:
Foundations

This course is for students to learn pronunciation in vocabulary through listening, speaking, reading, and writing activities.

Reading and writing development will be reinforced.
Intermediate
This course is for students who can understand and communicate simple oral and written messages in English. Students will learn beginning problem-solving and critical thinking. Reading and writing development will be reinforced.
Advanced
This course is for students who wish to further develop problem-solving and critical thinking skills. Advanced reading, writing, and conversation will be introduced to help students prepare for the world of work and community living.
ESL Computers
Practice your English while learning basic computer skills and how to talk about technology.
Students will learn to use the internet, write and format documents, create spreadsheets, and prepare presentations. Students should have conversational English skills to enroll.
ESL for Caregivers
This intermediate/advanced level ESL class will continue to teach students English while preparing them to work in caregiving careers working with children or assisting individuals in need of support so that they can live comfortably and independently in their own homes. Students will learn to perform duties including basic first-aid, light housekeeping, meals, shopping, transportation, and personal care including bathing and dressing.
ESL for Construction
This intermediate/advanced level ESL class will continue to teach students English while preparing them to work in construction careers. Students will learn the industry-standard fundamentals of framing, electrical, and plumbing work in addition to safety protocols and tool maintenance.
