These classes are designed to help students pass the General Education Development (GED) test that is recognized by many employers, vocational schools, and colleges as the equivalent of a high school diploma. Emphasis in the classes will be placed on English and Math skills.
The GED is actually five separate tests:
1. Language Arts - Reading
2. Language Arts – Writing
3. Math
4. Science
5. Social Studies
Students may take a Predictor Test to identify their strengths and weaknesses and then follow an individualized course of study. Instructional materials especially designed for the newly revised GED tests will be used. You must be at least 18 years old to take the GED test. Elective units toward a high school diploma can be earned based on attendance hours and performance. Classes are open entry. You may enter anytime after you have seen a counselor. To enroll, call 253-0583 for an appointment.
Each test is a two-night commitment. You must be preregistered for these tests. Call the office for preregistration information. The test cost for the entire battery of five (5) tests is $175. Any of the individual tests can be taken for $35 each. These fees are payable by exact cash or money order. Eligibility verification is critical. All candidates must present either a valid Drivers License, an I.D. card issued by the D.M.V., or a valid U.S. Passport.
